Jacob’s tallit, passed down from my father and from his father, was where this project started. Unlike mine and my sister’s, Jacob’s tallit is an heirloom, which means he regards his differently than the rest of my family: his is at once more sacred and yet more ceremonial. It is not used as often as mine and my sister’s are. His stays safe, kept in its bag in my dad’s closet for safe-keeping.
