I was really excited to talk with my sister about her tallit for several reasons. I knew she had been reluctant to have a bat mitzvah , and only truly connected to the tradition-oriented aspects of Jewish practices, distancing herself from the religion aspects. I also know she treasures her tallit, and for good reason– her tallit is gorgeous, a work of art that transcends religious affliations.

When I asked “Do you still wear your tallit after your bat mitzvah ceremony?”, she said “No.”
